Patient Instructions

PRE-TREATMENT INSTRUCTIONS 

• Avoid sun exposure for 4–6 weeks before and after treatment unless cleared by your provider.
• Recently tanned skin cannot be treated due to risk of burns and pigment changes.
• Stop topical medications or skin care products 3–5 days prior if directed.
• Do not wax, pluck, or tweeze hair for 6 weeks prior. Shaving is allowed.
• Shave the treatment area 24–48 hours prior.
• No products or fragrances should be present on the skin at the time of treatment.
• If you have a history of herpes simplex, prophylactic antiviral therapy may be recommended.
• Patients with darker skin types may start a bleaching regimen 2 weeks prior only if recommended by their doctor.
• Discontinue self-tanning products 1 week prior and remove residue.

DURING TREATMENT 

• Touch-up shaving and skin cleaning may be performed at the time of treatment.
• Cooling will be used to protect the skin.
• Protective eyewear is required.
• All safety precautions will be followed.

POST-TREATMENT CARE 

• Redness and swelling may last a few hours to 2–3 days.
• Skin may feel like a mild sunburn temporarily.
• Aloe vera may be applied.
• Makeup can be used if skin is not irritated.
• Avoid sun exposure and use SPF 30+ daily.
• Do not pick or scratch treated areas.
• Avoid waxing or tweezing; shaving only.
• Hair shedding is expected.
• Avoid deodorant for 24 hours after underarm treatment; baby powder may be used instead.
• Treat skin gently for 24 hours.

IMPORTANT SAFETY NOTE

 Treating recently tanned skin increases risk of pigment changes that may last months or longer.
